Summary of the SATCIP 2021 conference

During 24-25 August 2021 the Óbuda University Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering hosted the SATCIP 2021 international scientifical conference and workshop. The conference and workshop were organized by Óbuda University and Subotica Tech College of Applied Sciences supported by NATO SPS (Science for Peace and Security Programme). The speakers and participants next to the organizers (Hungary and Serbia) joined the conference from Poland, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, France, Romania. Professor Alexis Rusinek, attache of the scientific and academic cooperation of the French embassy also participated in the event at the invitation of the organizers.

The event agrees with the goal of NATO SPS in the field of science and technology and being the main instrument to allow researchers from NATO and Partner nations to maintain the technological edge and to stay at the forefront of knowledge. The NATO SPS ARW conference program included several research areas such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Communication Systems, Material Sciences, Sensors and detectors, Autonomy and Counter-autonomy and Technological Convergence.

The opening was held by the dean of Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering of Óbuda University Prof. Dr Zoltán Rajnai and the director of Subotica Tech College of Applied Sciences Dr Igor Fürstner. At the pandemic situation, the event was held in hybrid mode. The outlander speakers and participants were attended via online and featured their presentations.

During the two days of the event, there were six plenary lectures and in 6 blocks there were 35 presentations. The 7th block was the workshop program. The topic of the workshop was one of the wildly important problems of our quotidian life, which is the protection possibilities against the blast terror attacks. The expert lecture highlighted the complexity of the advanced security-related technologies in the protection against terror attacks on critical infrastructures.

The event was closed by the summary of Dr Igor Fürstner from Subotica Tech. The director appreciated the high scientific level and research results of all the presenters and their lectures. He remarked that after listened numerous research results and reviews he can concluded that critical infrastructure protection is a diversified topic with several linking points between the research areas. He thanked the organizers for the continuous work to the last one and half years. He asked the speakers to publish the presented research results in the Springer edited conference book.
